The company's partnership with handset maker Nokia in a deal allowing Airtel Kenya customers to purchase a Nokia 1280 handset, loaded with free SIM Card and talk time, for just Sh1850, is a great IT development that helps shrink the digital divide. And as Airtel Kenya notes, "This package effectively removes the cost of entry for even the poorest people in the most remote areas. It also enables citizens to use aunthentic mobile forms that are Internet compatible. The Chinese phones on the market do not not work well with internet technologies. I hope the Nokia 1280 is Internet enabled though.
